Lost Temple of Obluk
GMs will need, in addition to above GURPS Campaigns. They will also find the following useful, but are not necessary:
I did use GURPS City Stats to stat up the cities and towns in this adventure. It shouldn’t be needed other than if you have a question of what something means in the town stats.
Whitewall was settled on the remains of the old City of Snow, Capital of the empire ruled by a half-demon. When he was overthrown, the city was abandoned and fell to ruin. That was a couple hundred years ago, thirty years ago, the family Harkon built a homestead on the white cliffs overlooking the icy Northern Sea. Over the past thirty years, the homestead has grown to a village or a small city as the Harkon’s would like to think of it.
Recently, they have discovered iron ore in the mountains to the southeast. This is bringing considerable wealth to Whitewall, and expansion as a small mining village called Riversbend came to be, and because of the wild lands in between Whitewall and Riversbend, a small fort, Fort Harkon.
Recently, shipments from the mines have stopped and messengers sent to investigate have not returned. High Council Harkon sent one of his most trusted advisors and a small contingent of the town’s miltia to investigate. Nobody is willing to go now, saying they should give up the mines. Lord Harkon is more worried that whatever happened there will spread north. He’s been looking for someone to go investigate the past couple of months.
His advisor has recently returned clutching a small gold idol, frost bitten and a raving about a gold vein, a temple, goblins, and horrors. Besides that, they’ve gathered that the minors of Riversbend have closed the village gates and are requesting escort home.
High council Harken is most interested in opening the mines. He is willing to offer all treasure found in the temple (if there is one), and a reward of 500 silver farthings, 1/2 up front, 1/2 when the mines re-open, to anyone that can take care of the problem for him.
